PORTALES, N.M. –Katey Stice’s two-goal performance led the Eastern New Mexico women’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Colorado State University Pueblo in Thursday’s season opener. The contest marked the first for the Greyhounds since the end of the 2019 season and was also first-time head coach, Abbey Barnum‘s, first career win.
Stice broke open the scoring just over ten minutes into the second half and then quickly scored her second of the game ten minutes later to give the Hounds a 2-0 edge.
Excellent defensive presence from the ENMU back line and goalkeeper, Whitney Dockweiler, throughout the remainder of the game locked up the 2-0 victory for the Greyhounds.
Today’s win marks the first for any ENMU team in the 2021-22 academic year. Prior to today, the women’s soccer team hadn’t seen regular competition in over 600 days. The Greyhounds are back in action on Sunday, September 5 when they welcome Colorado Christian University to Al Whitehead Field for a 12 p.m. contest.
